Dr. Nguyen’s Story

Soon after Dr. Nguyen and her family immigrated to the United States, her mother started experiencing symptoms of diabetic retinopathy. This turned into a series of visiting the ophthalmologist every six months. With no Vietnamese doctors around it was up to Dr. Nguyen to understand and translate for her mother.

As a child translating, Dr. Nguyen asked her mother the same phrases she now asks her own patients today, “Is this better? Or is this better?… What letters can you see?”. After the feelings of frustration and sadness from her mother’s declining eyesight, this soon fueled Dr. Nguyen’s passion to find a way to cure her mother’s eyes. This lead to her determination to become an optometrist.

When Dr. Nguyen opened 20/20 Image Optometry in 2007, she wanted to build a community and a close relationship with her patients. Growing up in a large household, her family endured immense hardship restarting life in the United States as a refugee, her faith had been tested daily. With a strong family bond and dedication, Dr. Nguyen strives for the same approach to optometry and patient care today.

More About Dr. Linh K. Nguyen

Dr. Linh K. Nguyen, O.D.

Dr. Linh K. Nguyen received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. She is a therapeutic certified optometrist with the California Board of Optometry. Dr. Nguyen is also state-certified to prescribe medications for treating and managing refractive surgery, various ocular diseases, and other eye conditions, such as red eyes, eye infections, dry eyes, and foreign body removal.

Over her 25 years of experience, Dr. Nguyen has always made education a top priority. She takes time to help all her patients learn more about preventive eye care, listen to their needs, explain the findings of exams, and make simple recommendations.

Dr. Nguyen provides primary eye care. She has a particular focus on pre-operative and post-operative cataract and laser procedures. She works closely with leading laser surgeons.

In addition, Dr. Nguyen will examine your eyes for any signs of cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and macular degeneration. She is also experienced with fitting multifocal contact lenses, rigid gas-permeable contacts, scleral lenses, and toric contact lenses (contact lenses that help correct astigmatism).
